“Red Belt” Trailer (iHD)(Mixed Martial Arts)

blacktreemedia asked:

Set in the west-side of Los Angeles fight world, a world inhabited by bouncers, cage-fighters, cops and special forces types, Redbelt, is the story of Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a Jiu-jitsu teacher who has avoided the prize fighting circuit, choosing instead to pursue an honorable life by operating a self-defense studio with a samurai’s code.

Terry and his wife Sondra (Alice Braga), struggle to keep the business running to make ends meet. An accident on a dark, rainy night at the Academy between an off duty officer (Max Martini) and a distraught lawyer (Emily Mortimer) puts in motion a series of events that will change Terry’s life dramatically introducing him to a world of promoters (Ricky Jay, Joe Mantegna) and movie star Chet Frank (Tim Allen). Faced with this, in order to pay off his debts and regain his honor, Terry must step into the ring for the first time in his life.

I liked the movie. It say something about a important part of as u say Brazilian jiu-jitsu (we call just jiu-jitsu here in rio), that has been missing after it left our land. Ideology.

Being a Jui-Jitsu practitioner, I was eagerly awaitng this film. I was a bit disappointed at the weak plot and the sequence of events are loosely connected. Very little fight footage but as some people will say, “This is a David Mamet film”.
Not a great movie but it underlines the importance of HONOR in martial arts.

This movie has excellent story line.. it is not super action based..but worth watching. Not a waste of time *** 1/2 stars.

REDBELT has to be the shittiest, stupidest donkey-ass martial arts movie EVER MADE!!!

BLOODSPORT should be given 7 Oscars, for best actor, best screenplay and best script compared to REDBELT!!

A person with Downs syndrome smoking top weed after being awake for 9 days on meth would write a better plot!!

And by the way i thought the movie sucked big time!

Great film, but as other comments said, don’t watch this film expecting to see nonstop fighting, go for Mamet’s writing. Mamet chose the subject for a screenplay because he studies Jiu Jitsu. He’s a Purple Belt.

yea i agree Zarbon700, most people thought this film would be more action based and thats where the negative comments came from I suppose, but I knew it would be more philosophical and character driven, I loved it.

This is the fast and the furious of MMA. I didn’t believe anything could be worse than Never Back Down, but at least that movie knew it was dumb.

Just seen this movie and I have to say I was very impressed, but don’t go to it thinking you’ll see lots of martial arts and guys beating tar out of each other. There are martial arts in it but they are secondary. For me at least I think the film is more about the business and politics of modern martial arts.

this movie caters to mma enthusiasts, like white belt level 1 for dummies. but, the messages that were said were good.

This is a GREAT movie. I rented and watched it yesterday and I purchased the Blu-Ray today. This movie doesn’t have much action, but the story and acting is so good that you really don’t care that there isn’t much fighting in the film.

I highly recommend this film to people who are more interested in watching a film with a great story and characters. If you are looking for an action film, this movie may not be for you.
