Mixed Martial Arts
T-Minus-10 asked:

Any sport where beating the crap out of the other person was the point?

Actually, I was thinking about it. But I don’t like getting hit in the face. I did box a little bit while in the Navy. It was grate, I was in superb shape, but I never wanted to compete in it. I just spared with a few guys that took it easy on me. Mixed Martial Arts can be very brutal, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. But it’s a grate work out.

have. But not that made-for-TV crap. Kick boxing is poop. Gracie jujitsu, taekwondo and aikido is not. And whatever I could learn from really nasty street fighters while I was in jail. They know stuff even the sensei’s don’t. No substitute for what you learn in a real life-or-death brawl.

And beating the crap out of somebody is the whole point. Better than sex anyday.

Yes! I love martial arts.
I’ve been in Kung Fu, Chinese Kick Boxing, I am in Tae Kwon Do, and I want to take Aikido and Jiujitsu.

You should not try mixed martial arts because it is not good for your health.

Certain martial arts try to tighten musles (karate), where as some other try to loosen it and provide more flexibility (kungfu). There are fundamental diffrences in how your body, its muscles, tendons and joints are trained and tuned. All are good, mixing will not give you good results of any of them and will also cause harm to you

I tried kickboxing for a day. I dropped it because part of the warm-up involved skipping rope, which I never learned to do. Now I stick with simple karate.

Actually,

I do karate and believe it or not it is not about “beating the crap” out of the other person. It is great fun. We mostly practice moves and then we spar against each other. What we call light controlled sparring. Mostly we don’t hurt each other except occasionally by accident. It is mostly about point scoring and testing of skill and reflex against your opponent.

Perhaps you should try it. It isn’t what you think it is.

Nah I work out in the gym a kick or punch if it didnt floor my opponent on the first attempt it did on the second, made no difference if he blocked or not.

I’ve considered it. Not boxing, but maybe karate or judo. It seems like good exercise, and it would be nice to learn how to better defend myself.

I’ve taken those things for 12 years now.

Personally the way i practice martial arts is more about knocking people down and avoiding blows, rather than punch punch he’s down kind of fighting.

Trust me, its fun to watch people hit the floor when they take a swing at you.
