Need help for my (MMA) Mixed Martial Arts shop?

Mixed Martial Arts
hernandeza03 asked:

I am planning on opening a MMA shop in a few months. Need some input on what type of merchandise to put in my store. Is there any specific brands that are really popular right now. Also I think I will put a section up for traditional arts….e.g. Taekwondo, Karate, Boxing…etc.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Sprawl, Affliction, Tapout, and Xyience are all profitable merchandise.

man I wish you were in my town… some selection in shin gaurds, boxing gloves, mouth peices, mma gloves, and Mt and boxing shorts would be a hell of a start

Thanks for the props on GymSoap. While it sells predominantly online, we have select gyms carrying it. We are happy to speak with anyone interested in wholesale orders.

I know there aren’t a ton of women fighters yet, but having at least a small selection of fight gear specifically for women would be great! It’s very hard to find gear small enough sometimes, and I personally would definitely travel to a shop that had it.

Definitely rash guards, fight shorts, MMA gloves in a variety of styles…

Maybe some grappling gear, too.

For brands…century, clinch, sprawl, and combat sports would be a good place to start.

Good luck!

Great Idea. I would say to definately dedicate some of the shop to fight gear. There is no place around where I live to buy fight shorts, shin guards, gloves, rash gaurds, pads, etc outside of ordering from a gym or online. Plus there are a ton of brands out there that don’t have a lot of exposure to real brick and mortar stores.

Tapout (I’m not a big fan, but it has a more casual, mainstream trend to it for the average person)
Hayabusa Fightwear
NOGI
SPRAWL
Century
Sports Combat International (has tons of fight gear and supplies)
Affliction (although i think this stuff is carried in mainstream stores)
Another great brand to carry is GYMSOAP its a MMA focused company that makes an antibacterial and antifungal soap which is great to prevent ringworm and staph (especially with all the news stories lately and staph infections and kids dying). This stuff looks great but I can’t find any place that sells it, I’ve only seen it online.

I would say to focus on the stuff that people can’t get at another major chaing that might be cheaper. Tapout is carried in a few major national chains and I believe Affliction is too.
