you can begin anywhere. if u dont have a mma gym by u, any type of self defence class will work. most neighborhoods have a tae kwan do gym near them, start there. most places have ymcas near them, u can learn boxing there. join ur skool wrestling team 2 learn ground work but u will eventually need to know jujitsu. that is a way compensate for not having a mma gym in ur area.

Just my opinion, but at your age I would say just join the wrestling team.

It's cheaper then an MMa gym. You'll get great strength and conditioning as long as the coach is half way decent. And you'll learn body control, active flexibility, etc.

Then look for an MMA gym that will show you how to evolve your skills Wrestling to BJJ, Tae kwon do to Muay Thai.

It will also give you time to shop around and make sure the MMA gym is quality and not hype.

Well every martial arts class I've taken I had no experience in before hand. This includes boxing and jiu-jitsu, they have great instructors that are great with beginners, and at least where I come from, there are a lot of other beginners to pair up with, really a great experience.

you don't need any prior experience. find an mma gym and give them money, they will let you train there and may even provide some form of guidance.
