It prevents lactic acid from pooling in your muscles, thereby preventing soreness the next day. It is a good practice for anyone who works out - get into a shower that is colder than you are used to and let the water warm up on your body.

It restores the energy pretty quickly so you can keep going on for your next additional training. It also helps reduces injuries by cooling down your over-heated body.

It helps from the possible strain of any muscles. Seeing as when things are cold they contract. Muscles do this also. So if there muscles are sore it will contract them reslting in stretching them leading to a less sore day the next day. It also helps the bruising process

I do the same thing when I am training hard.

It slows are stops the swelling in your mussels and joints that is normal after a hard work out. This will help you feel better the next day and lessen the chance of mussel injury.

This trick allows me to train harder and longer.
