I’ve done undercover security work, was a bouncer, and a cop, for just over a decade, and I have been in more fights than I can count. I have fought in parking lots, vestibules, streets, bars, and you name it. I have had extensive boxing, wrestling, and martial arts training and I would say that 90% of the guys I fought outside of a ring I took to the ground and ended up choking them out. These were not controlled environments like a ring. When you learn how to fight, place doesn’t matter.

This is not realistic. This only shows the potential power of the blows you can get hit with. In a real fight, no one is going to sit there for you to strike with all your might, although it happens on occasion but rarely. in a real fight, most fighter strike with quick reflexes although powerful, but not their full strength.

this is just a farce this mma, there is no realism. You should learn pressure points, fighting is about mentality and not this martial arts like styles

you’re probably right, even though there’s a video on youtube were a guy got a kick that measured 2.1 VC, which means he broke the ribcage and bruised the heart. :D but yeh, he was a pro. a normal fighter will probably get stabbed :S

Elite Athletes ?
No…
Elite Warriors ! Elite Martial Artists !

You know that octagon is actually in some Oriental philosophies as in martial arts !

Even the REAL martial arts that mma got all of its friendly techniques from, look down on mma. If mma gyms taught mma pluss critical attacks and stuff that isnt sport friendly, then I wouldnt think poorly of it. But mma claims to be the ultimate fighting style even though you are training for a specific controlled invroment and there are so many things it overlooks.
This causes a false ego which can result in the mma fighter getting stabbed for running his mouth too much(actual example).

I just think that mma IS challenging but not an effective way to end a real threatening situation quickly. Its good to take someone to the ground in a match but not a good idea in real life. Unless there is a big open area with no obsticles or any of the variables I mentioned earlier.

You must’nt do much training are any at all. Go to a grappling class, ( judo, bjj, wrestling) & try for yourself and see how much skill & technique is involved.

Originally MMA tournaments (such as Vale Tudo) had no weight classes, very limited rules and 1 hour time limits. The watering down of the sport relates to what the countries administering body considers safe and will legally allow in that country. What Martial Arts do you practice where they conduct real life weapon attacks, not just simulated routines, or where one fighter faces multiple opponents in a competition. MMA incorporates all Martial Arts and is the closest thing to a real life >

The term MMA refers to any techniques that are able to be legally employed in a ring. It encompasses all Martial Arts, although through trial and error, only the most effective and efficient techniquies are commonly used. To say that Ground Fighting or BJJ is not technical or efficient is ridiculous. Have you ever fought in a MMA or BJJ match? It only takes 15 minutes when both practioners are skilled, as in boxing. With u your arm or leg would be broken or you’d be unconscious in under a minute

I guess there is no reason to train for:
weapons (and I cant get over that one)
muliple attackers
stonger attackers
uneven ground
obsicles between you and your attacker
escape tactics
throat strikes (which are my favorite)
groin strikes
strikes to the back of the head
small joint manipulation (fingers ect.)
rabbit punch (kidney strikes)
biting (thats gross but possible)
clawing (women)
Hair pulling (women)
or the many many many many other things you cant do in a sport enviroment.

JKD, get in where? MMA takes the most basic striking and grappeling and mixes it up with dangerous levels of testosterone and weight lifting.
If you take away the weight lifting you have frat boy bar fighting.

Its not technical or efficient (or realistic) to roll around with some other naked guy for 15 minutes trying to mount each other.

It would be extremely helpful if the include fedor in the documentary but since fedor is not in UFC he is not in the doctumentary to bad:(

Actually among the things I know I will count this factoid: you have never bitten anyone in martial arts practice. Consequently I’m willing to bet that you base you knowledge of the effects of human bites on stories you’ve heard from other people and possibly zombie movies. Humans have pretty dull teeth.

Also, try to imagine a situation so bad that the only thing you can do in response is to bite the other guy. Got it? Now try to imagine how much worse it’s about to get.

JKDRippedOn

haha did you honestly say biting doesnt work? I completley agree w/ you on everything else youve said but dude you know that someone can bite and rip through your skin very easily? Yeah its not a good idea to have a plan of biting someone, thats a good way to lose your teeth but should the situation arise then by all means you better take it.

Feb 5 2009

JKDRippedOn

haha lets see you go in there and hang w/ any of those guys, id bet a million they’d all kill you, and btw weight training and working on technique is ALL they do, do your homework before opening your mouth, it makes you look stupid

Bruce has fought in chinease boxing matches and never lost, why I sarring sparring videos of him at a tornament, he could not be touched, if you have any sense intelligence you will open your mind and a least try original Jeet Kune Do and then tell us it’s shit instead of mouthing!

Lets just leave mma and ufc as what they are. A full contact sport, not combat.

“If your gonna be dumb, you better be tough” hahaha!

Yeah I think mma is fucking silly. At first I kinda liked it but it can be very boring most of the time.

To much weight lifting and ego training and not enough technique. To say that it is a true martial art is ignorance to how a fight really happens.
No rules
No weight classes
No big flat open surfaces with no obsticles
Weapons of any sort
Possibility of multiple attackers

I could go on and on about the differences.

guitarson

I admit that. I’m just saying that it is valid (as is everything else) in a pure self defense situation. I do not think that UFC should be anything like that, then it would be a true blood sport. As it is, it’s just a sport (using martial arts) and a damn exciting one at that.

Very cool. I’m not the best at getting to my point quickly, so the character limits on these comments kill me.

Good bye everyone!

her body to defend themselves in any way if they really have to. I know MMA fighters can do much more than the average person. Anyway, there’s my response to your statement. I wasn’t saying it to get smart with you or anything, I was just explaining what I meant and what I was really talking about. Welp, see ya!
