Seriously who cares if ppl say grappling is gay. What is more important is that it is proven and usually ppl that have problems with grappling are a fraid of it literally. They have been in fights (which they probably started) and gotton their ass handed to them. lol drnoj1

Ouchi-Gari can be very effective if its used as a counter. I in a BJJ tournament a few months ago I was fighting a very strong Judo fighter who was just schooling everyone with an Osotogari. Sure a very basic Judo takedown, but he did it with such speed and power and a lot of BJJ guys aren’t used to getting slammed around like that.

The Osotogari and Ouchi-Gari flow from one to the other and baiting your opponent into thinking you aren’t ready for one often gives you a chance to counter.

The counter is easy , lower center of gravity . Quickly bend knees and get wide base . Often when a guy tries this trip , I end up squating down and when he tries to regain footing I burst foward and end up on top . Some guys are pretty good at this move though . It only seems to catch me late in a session when I am tired and standing too straight up .

If it is not working for you, you’re not doing it right.

I usually wait for forward momentum when my opponent step forward and catch it before they plant the foot. I’m a shorter guy and I like to reap the shit out of it and drive. It works for me 90% of the time.

This move never works for me in Judo it’s to easy to counter or block.

It will… I have caught bigger guys with this and other throws like kosoto gake cause of my speed and explosiveness

I’ve trained Judo for many years and always heard the “gay” joke. Nothing is far away from “gayness” than those beautiful sports like Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling etc…They teaches not only self defense but also how to behave in life. Parisian is amazing and my six year old kid is learning at his dojo.
